IEEE 1394 (FireWire)

Firewire patch for PCI memory allocation

Because of lazy BIOS we need to do PCI memory allocation for OHCI interface on our own. Patch sent to freebsd-hackers and firewire mailling lists in times of 4-STABLE. Thanks to Warner Losh for his PCCBB code.

I have Lucent ORiNOCO WiFi 802.11b card for PCMCIA. This used to work in 4-branch! Here's info about the card:

During writing those messages machine seems to be locked up and it doesn't respond neither on console nor via network (fixed ethernet). Afterwards it comes back to live again but it takes something like one minute or so. In some sense card seem to be initialized (LED with carrier detection is on) but it's not working.

Touchpad

Touchpad works only as 2-button mouse despite it has two other buttons. Here is corresponding part of /etc/rc.conf:

Modem

Modem is not working since it's kind of winmodem. I'm not using it in FreeBSD on this machine so I'm not forced to configure it :-(. I've found somebody has something very suspicious on it's VAIO notebook, see http://www.geocrawler.com/archives/3/163/2001/8/0/6520779/ by Kay Darrierres.

Floppy

On the first glimpse ASUS USB floppy seems to work. When trying to use seriously it's somehow broken and it seems to damamge floppies in the drive under some circumstances! More on this coming soon.

AFS

AFS is distributed filesystem which is used at our institute so I need to get it up and running. On several platforms we are using OpenAFS but on FreeBSD I was using arla. But currently I have problems with getting it compiled on FreeBSD 5.1. I was able to compile it on 5.0-RELEASE (arla-0.36pre12) but on 5.1 I haven't succeeded so far.

I have installed krb-1.2.1 and heimdal-0.5.1 ports to have complete krb4 and krb5. After not being succesful with arla-0.36pre12 I've tried arla-0.36pre29 and results follow.
